IARD members are committed to reducing the harmful use of alcohol and have a long history of working in partnership with others as part of a whole-of-society approach.  

The last 10 years have seen declines in binge-drinking, drinking and driving, and underage drinking in many countries. IARD members are committed to building on these positive trends and actively support international goals to reduce harmful drinking. This includes delivering on the recommendations presented to the sector in the United Nations 2018 Political Declaration on noncommunicable diseases, in particular by taking concrete steps towards eliminating the marketing, advertising, and sale of alcohol products to minors.
